About Guzmania musaica (Linden & André) Mez

Guzmania musaica (Linden & André) Mez is a stemless, evergreen, epiphytic perennial plant that grows to a height of 20–40 centimetres (7.9–15.7 in). Its simple leaves can reach around two feet in length; they have entire margins, are spineless, and are light green marked with reddish and dark green transverse striations. A long stem grows from the center of the plant's leaf rosette, topped by an attractive inflorescence made of pink-red bracts, holding many waxy, tubular yellow flowers arranged in spikes. This species blooms from June to August. It produces septicidal capsules as fruit, and dies after fruiting. This plant grows as an epiphyte in rain forests.
