Gunnarea is a monotypic genus of polychaete worms that belongs to the family Sabellariidae. This genus was first described by Karl Eric Johansson in 1927. Its originally designated type taxon was Hermella capensis Schmarda, 1861, which is now accepted as a synonym of the species Gunnarea gaimardi (Quatrefages, 1848).
