About Grypus equiseti (J.C.Fabricius, 1775)

Grypus equiseti, commonly called the horsetail weevil, is a weevil species that is native to Europe. This weevil feeds on two Equisetum plant species: Equisetum arvense, also known as field horsetail or common horsetail, and Equisetum palustre, also known as marsh horsetail. It has been intentionally introduced to New Zealand as a biological control agent for Equisetum arvense, which is an invasive species in that country.
