About Grypotyphlops acutus (Duméril & Bibron, 1844)

Grypotyphlops acutus, described by Duméril & Bibron in 1844, is a harmless blind snake species commonly called the beaked worm snake, beaked blind snake, or beak-nosed worm snake. It is endemic to peninsular India, and is the only species placed in the genus Grypotyphlops. No subspecies of this snake are currently recognized. The species ranges across peninsular India, found across the region south of the Ganges and Rajputana basins. The type locality recorded for this species is "inconnue", which is French for unknown.
