About Griseargiolestes fontanus (Tillyard, 1913)

Griseargiolestes fontanus, originally described by Tillyard in 1913, is a species of Australian damselfly belonging to the family Argiolestidae. It is commonly known by the common name springs flatwing. This species is endemic to south-eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales, where it lives in streams located near their springs. It is a medium-sized damselfly, with a black-green metallic body that has pale markings. Adult individuals of this species only have a slight pruinescence. Just like other members of the Argiolestidae family, Griseargiolestes fontanus rests with its wings held outspread. It looks similar to Griseargiolestes albescens, but it has less pruinescence than that species.
