About Grevillea decora Domin
Grevillea decora Domin is an erect shrub or small tree that usually reaches a height of 1 to 6 meters (3 feet 3 inches to 19 feet 8 inches), and grows from a single main stem. Its leaves are oblong, oval, or egg-shaped, measuring 30 to 180 millimeters (1.2 to 7.1 inches) long and 15 to 40 millimeters (0.59 to 1.57 inches) wide, with a dense covering of silky hairs on the lower surface. The flowers are arranged near the ends of branchlets on a one-sided rachis that is 15 to 66 millimeters (0.59 to 2.60 inches) long, and the pistil is 35 to 55 millimeters (1.4 to 2.2 inches) long. Flowering time differs between the two subspecies, and the fruit produced is a follicle 8 to 15 millimeters (0.31 to 0.59 inches) long. For distribution and habitat, subspecies decora grows in woodland and shrubland in shallow soil over sandstone, and occurs in scattered locations along the ranges of inland eastern Queensland, from near Wandoan to near Pentland. Subspecies telfordii grows in heath and forest near Laura in far north Queensland.
