About Graphocephala atropunctata (Signoret, 1854)

Graphocephala atropunctata, commonly called the blue-green sharpshooter, is a hemipteran bug. It is native to the west coast of the United States, and also to Arizona and New Mexico. This bug carries the phytopathogenic bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. The bacteria infect the xylem of grapevines, causing a die-back condition called Pierce's disease. The disease results in reduced productivity and economic damage to California vineyards.
