About Graphium weiskei (Ribbe, 1900)

Graphium weiskei, commonly known as the purple spotted swallowtail, is a butterfly species that belongs to the swallowtail butterfly family, Papilionidae. This species is endemic to the highlands of New Guinea, where it lives at elevations ranging from 1,400 to 2,400 meters (which is equivalent to 4,500 to 8,000 feet). Its scientific name was given to honour Emil Weiske, the collector who obtained the original specimens.
