About Graphium ramaceus (Westwood, 1872)

Scientific name: Graphium ramaceus (Westwood, 1872). This species, also referenced as ramaceus Westw. (47 b), is a much darkened form. In males, the discal stripes of the forewing are suppressed; at most, traces of two spots are present before the hindmargin. The discal stripes of the hindwing are short and always much narrower than in preceding forms, and are usually much narrower than the interspaces. Females have no discal spot on either wing; their submarginal spots are small and partly suppressed, and are somewhat larger on the ventral side. Faint discal stripes are also present before the abdominal margin of the female hindwing on the ventral side. This species is found in North and South Borneo. Karl Jordan, on page 105 of Seitz's work, provides a description that differentiates ramaceus as leucothoe from nearby taxa, and discusses some of its forms.
