About Graphium policenes (Cramer, 1775)

Graphium policenes (Cramer, 1775), commonly called the common swordtail or small striped swordtail, is a butterfly species belonging to the swallowtail family Papilionidae. It is native to tropical Africa. The wingspan of this species measures 55–60 mm for males and 60–65 mm for females. It produces continuous generations of broods throughout the warmer months of the year. The larvae of Graphium policenes feed on Uvaria caffra, Artabotrys monteiroae, Uvaria bukobensis, Uvara chamae, Landolphia buchannani, Landolphia ugandensis, Polyalthia species, Annona reticulata, Annona senegalensis, Annona squamosa, and Monanthotaxis caffra.
