The Sonoran Desert tortoise (scientific name Gopherus morafkai, also commonly called Morafka's desert tortoise) is a species of terrestrial chelonian reptile. It belongs to the tortoise family Testudinidae, and is native to the Sonoran Desert. The scientific name of this species was first published in 2011 by Murphy, Berry, Edwards, Leviton, Lathrop and Riedle.
