About Goodenia pulchella Benth.
Goodenia pulchella Benth. is an erect to ascending herb that typically reaches a height of 35 cm (14 in), and all its foliage is covered in stiff hairs. Its leaves are lance-shaped, mostly arranged at the base of the plant, and measure 40โ80 mm (1.6โ3.1 in) long and 1โ11 mm (0.039โ0.433 in) wide; the leaf edges are sometimes wavy or toothed. The flowers of this species are arranged in racemes that grow up to 150 mm (5.9 in) long, with leaf-like bracts that are 1.5โ2 mm (0.059โ0.079 in) long. Each individual flower sits on a pedicel that is 10โ40 mm (0.39โ1.57 in) long. The sepals are narrow oblong in shape and 2โ3 mm (0.079โ0.118 in) long, while the petals are yellow and measure 8โ14 mm (0.31โ0.55 in) long. The lower lobes of the corolla are 2.5โ4 mm (0.098โ0.157 in) long, with wings that can reach up to 1.5 mm (0.059 in) wide. Flowering occurs between September and January, and the mature fruit is a more or less spherical capsule 2โ3 mm (0.079โ0.118 in) in diameter. This goodenia grows in seasonally wet areas between Kalbarri and the Great Australian Bight, in the south and south-west of Western Australia.
