About Gonocephalus liogaster (Günther, 1872)
Gonocephalus liogaster (Günther, 1872) is a large, robust lizard. Adult individuals can reach a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of 14 cm (5.5 in), with an additional tail length of 31.5 cm (12.4 in). Its tail is laterally compressed, and all four of its legs are long. Male G. liogaster have blue irises, while female G. liogaster have brown irises. This species occurs in Indonesia, specifically on Borneo, the Natuna Islands, and Sumatra, as well as in West Malaysia. Its preferred natural habitats are forest and freshwater wetlands, found at altitudes ranging from 100 m to 400 m (330 ft to 1,310 ft). G. liogaster is oviparous. Clutch size is typically three eggs, but can range from one to four eggs. Each egg measures 23 mm × 11 mm (0.91 in × 0.43 in). Eggs hatch after approximately 100 days of incubation, hatching in August.
