About Goniurosaurus kuroiwae (Namiye, 1912)
Goniurosaurus kuroiwae, first described by Namiye in 1912, has multiple common English names: Kuroiwa's ground gecko, Kuroiwa's eyelid gecko, Kuroiwa's leopard gecko, Okinawan ground gecko, Ryukyu eyelid gecko, and Tokashiki gecko. Its Japanese name is クロイワトカゲモドキ (黒岩蜥蜴擬). It is a species of lizard belonging to the family Eublepharidae. This species is endemic to the Okinawa Islands, which are part of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. Kuroiwa's ground gecko lives in subtropical forests located in karst limestone areas, at elevations that do not exceed 450 m (1,480 ft). G. kuroiwae is an oviparous species. Each clutch it produces contains one or two eggs, and an adult female can lay up to three clutches in a single year.
