About Goniobranchus vibratus (Pease, 1860)
Goniobranchus vibratus (Pease, 1860) is a species of nudibranch. Adult individuals reach a body length of 60–65 mm. Their basic body color is bright yellow, marked with raised small white dots. The mantle margins are bluish-purple, with large white pustules. The body has an oblong or oval outline. The mantle itself is smooth and rounded, with thin margins that do not cover the foot behind it. This species has seven small, erect, ciliated branchial plumes edged with violet. Its dorsal tentacles are violet, short, ovate, and lamellated. The foot is white, and is nearly as wide as the mantle. This species was first described from Hawaii. It has been recorded in the Marshall Islands, French Polynesia, Japan, and across the tropical Pacific Ocean. These diurnal nudibranchs live exposed on subtidal reefs, rocky habitats, tide pools, and the low intertidal zone, at depths ranging from 1 m to 24 m.
