About Goniobranchus kuniei (Pruvot-Fol, 1930)
Goniobranchus kuniei is a species of nudibranch that has a striking pattern of blue spots with pale blue halos on a creamy-colored mantle. Its mantle also has a double border of purple and blue. Mature individuals of this species can reach a total length of approximately 40 mm (1.6 in). Two closely related species, Goniobranchus tritos and Goniobranchus geminus, share similar color patterns with Goniobranchus kuniei. This species was first documented from specimens collected in New Caledonia. It is found across the western Pacific Ocean and eastern Indian Ocean, with recorded locations including Fiji, the Marshall Islands, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan. Goniobranchus kuniei prefers water temperatures between 21–26 °C (70–79 °F), and is most often found at depths between 5 and 40 meters (16 and 131 ft).
