About Goniobranchus hunterae (Rudman, 1983)
Goniobranchus hunterae is a species of chromodorid nudibranch. It has a translucent white mantle covered with scattered red spots. The mantle edge is yellow, and opaque white glands are visible through the skin just inside this yellow edge. The clubs of its rhinophores are translucent, with white pigment located toward the tip. Its gills have opaque white lines along the outer rachis, and the gill leaves are translucent white. This species can grow to a maximum body length of 25 mm. It shares similar coloration with Goniobranchus daphne, Goniobranchus splendidus, and Goniobranchus tasmaniensis. This species was first described from La Perouse, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It belongs to a group of similar red-spotted chromodorids from south-eastern Australia that form a mimicry ring.
