About Goniobranchus geminus (Rudman, 1987)
Goniobranchus geminus can grow to a maximum length of 5 centimeters. This species of sea slug has four distinctively colored lines along the edge of its mantle. The lines, ordered from the outermost inward, are: a thin white outer line, a light grayish line, another white line, and finally a bright golden yellow line. The dorsal background color ranges from light brown to yellowish, and is speckled with mauve ocelli that each have a surrounding white margin. The foot is lighter in color than the background, has a white margin, and also bears ocelli. The rhinophores are yellow or purple, and have a laminated structure. The gills are white with beige outlines. This sea slug is found in the Indian Ocean, ranging from Kenya to Sri Lanka, and also occurs in the Red Sea. It prefers the outer slopes of coral reefs.
