About Gonatodes humeralis (Guichenot, 1855)
Gonatodes humeralis, commonly called the Trinidad gecko, is a species of gecko that belongs to the Sphaerodactylidae family. It is native to northern South America and the Caribbean, and has been recorded in Trinidad, French Guiana, Suriname, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. This species displays sexual dimorphism in body coloration. Males rapidly shift through bright, vibrant colors including red, purple, and orange in response to social interactions. Females, on the other hand, typically change to dull, camouflaged colors to protect themselves and their offspring.
