About Gompholobium polymorphum R.Br.
Gompholobium polymorphum is a bushy, straggling shrub or climbing plant that usually reaches a height between 5 and 60 cm (2.0 to 23.6 inches). Its leaves are cylindrical, with one or two longitudinal grooves on the lower surface, measuring 8 to 30 mm (0.31 to 1.18 inches) in length and 0.6 to 3.2 mm (0.024 to 0.126 inches) in width. The flowers are most commonly yellow, red, or orange with markings of matching colors, and are carried on hairless stalks 10 to 19 mm (0.39 to 0.75 inches) long, with attached bracteoles 2.0 to 4.5 mm (0.079 to 0.177 inches) long. The hairless sepals are 8 to 11 mm (0.31 to 0.43 inches) long. The standard petal is 10 to 18 mm (0.39 to 0.71 inches) long, the wing petals are 10 to 11.5 mm (0.39 to 0.45 inches) long, and the keel petals are 9 to 10.5 mm (0.35 to 0.41 inches) long. Flowering takes place from September through January, and the fruit is a pod that is roughly 8 mm (0.31 inches) long and wide. This species of gompholobium grows in lateritic or granitic soils, found in the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Swan Coastal Plain, and Warren biogeographic regions of south-western Western Australia.
