About Gobius cruentatus Gmelin, 1789

The red-mouthed goby, scientifically named Gobius cruentatus Gmelin, 1789, is a goby species native to the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, ranging from southwestern Ireland to the coasts of Morocco and Senegal. It is also found in the Mediterranean Sea. In the Mediterranean, it lives in inshore waters at depths between 15 and 40 metres (49 to 131 ft), in habitats with rocky or sandy substrates, or within seagrass meadows. This species grows to a maximum total length of 18 centimetres (7.1 in), and it is sometimes available in the aquarium trade.
