About Gobius couchi Miller & El-Tawil, 1974

Couch's goby, scientifically named Gobius couchi, is a species of goby. It is native to the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, ranging as far north as southern Great Britain and Ireland, as well as the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic Sea. In these regions, it lives under stones on muddy sand in inshore waters and the intertidal zone. This species can grow to a total length of 7.7 centimetres, which equals 3.0 inches. Both its specific scientific name and common name honor Jonathan Couch, a Cornish ichthyologist who lived from 1789 to 1870 and authored A History of the Fishes of the British Islands, published between 1862 and 1867.
