About Gobius bucchichi Steindachner, 1870
Bucchich's goby, scientifically named Gobius bucchichi, is a species of goby. It is native to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, specifically at least the Adriatic and Aegean Seas, and may also be present in the Black Sea. This species was traditionally thought to have a much larger range. However, in 2016, a similar species called the incognito goby (G. incognitus) was formally described. Prior to this description, the incognito goby had been confused with Bucchich's goby, so much of the information previously published about Bucchich's goby is now known to actually refer to the incognito goby. Bucchich's goby prefers coastal habitats. It lives in waters with sandy or muddy bottoms, that contain patches of seagrass or tide pools, at depths between 1 and 30 meters (3.3–98.4 feet). Its diet is made up of polychaete worms, amphipods, molluscs, and algae. This species can grow to a maximum total length of 10 centimeters (3.9 inches).
