About Gnorimoschema octomaculella (Chambers, 1875)

Gnorimoschema octomaculella is a species of moth in the family Gelechiidae. It was first described by Vactor Tousey Chambers in 1875. This moth is native to North America, and confirmed records of it come from California and Washington. On its forewings, a brown spot sits on the dorsal margin near the base, which is brownish overall. Before the middle of the disc there is a large rust-red spot that touches a brown costal spot positioned just before it. There is a second rusty-red spot located at the end of the disc. A small, relatively dense patch of scattered dark dusting is present before the costal cilia, and an additional matching patch is found before the dorsal cilia. The hindwings are a pale grayish fuscus shade. Larvae of this moth feed on Acamptopappus sphaerocephalus.
