About Gnorimella maculosa (Knoch, 1801)

Gnorimella is a genus of uncommon scarab beetles belonging to the family Scarabaeidae. This genus contains only one species: Gnorimella maculosa, which is also commonly called the maculate flower scarab. The species name refers to the beetle's spotted maculate patterning. Adult individuals of this species reach a length of 15.2 mm. This species prefers habitats located near deciduous woodland, where it can sometimes be found buzzing around flowers of dogwood or viburnum plants. Gnorimella maculosa occurs in eastern North America.
