About Glyptophysa novaehollandica (Bowdich, 1822)

The shell of an adult Glyptophysa novaehollandica can grow longer than 30 mm. Adult shells of this species are very variable in form, and are most often relatively smooth. Some individual specimens or entire populations may have periostracal hairs and spiral features on their shells. This species is confirmed to occur in all states and territories of Australia, including Tasmania. Specimens collected from Papua New Guinea and East Timor may also belong to this species, but this has not been confirmed.
