About Glomeris guttata Risso, 1826

Glomeris guttata (Risso, 1826) has brown to black dorsal plates marked with four rows of orange or reddish-orange spots. Its head is also brown to black and has no spots. This species exhibits Müllerian mimicry, sharing its color pattern with the caterpillar of the apollo butterfly (Parnassius apollo), which lives in the same habitat. It is native to Southwest Europe, specifically occurring in France, Italy, and Monaco. It inhabits alpine environments, including the Var basin in Southern France.
