About Glochidion zeylanicum (Gaertn.) A.Juss.

Glochidion zeylanicum (Gaertn.) A.Juss. is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Phyllanthaceae. Individuals of this species grow as either shrubs or trees. Its native range extends from the Indian subcontinent, through Indochina, southern China, Taiwan, Japan, Malesia, and Papuasia, all the way to northern Australia and Vanuatu. The species was first formally described in 1791 by Joseph Gaertner, under the name Diasperus zeylanicus. In 1824, Adrien-Henri de Jussieu reclassified it into the genus Glochidion, giving it the currently accepted name Glochidion zeylanicum. This species has a broad distribution and a large overall population, so the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has assessed its conservation status as least concern.
