About Globularia vulgaris L.
Globularia vulgaris L. is a plant species that belongs to the genus Globularia in the family Plantaginaceae. This species has a highly disjunct distribution. One group of populations is found in the mountains of southern France, as well as north-central and eastern Spain. A second separate group of populations occurs on the Baltic Sea islands of Öland and Gotland. Globularia vulgaris can be distinguished from Globularia trichosantha, a species native to the Balkans and Crimea, by two key traits: G. vulgaris lacks stolons, and its calyx teeth are as long as, or slightly longer than, the calyx tube. In contrast, G. trichosantha has calyx teeth that are 3 to 4 times longer than the calyx tube.
