About Glischrochilus quadripunctatus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Glischrochilus quadripunctatus (Linnaeus, 1758) measures approximately 4–6 mm in total length. Its head, thorax, and abdomen all have a uniform dark coloration. Four distinct orange blotches appear on its elytra. The species has a smooth, shiny body, and the rear edge of its thorax is narrower than its elytra. It is very similar in appearance to the related species Glischrochilus hortensis. It is one of just three Glischrochilus species that occurs in the United Kingdom, and has a wide distribution across England, Wales, and Scotland. This species is active throughout the entire year, but is most commonly found between March and November, in areas around conifers.
