Gladiolus cardinalis Curtis, commonly known as the waterfall lily, is a cormous flowering plant species. This species is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa. It also goes by other common names: New Year lily, known as Nuwejaarsblom in Afrikaans, and cardinal red sword lily. Gladiolus cardinalis grows on the sides of waterfalls in the south-western mountains of the Western Cape.
