About Gilia ophthalmoides Brand
This wildflower species, Gilia ophthalmoides Brand, produces a short, branching stem that grows 10 to 30 centimeters long. The stem is covered in a layer of cobweb-like fibers and whitish glandular hairs. Most of its leaves grow in a basal rosette at ground level, with occasional leaves growing along the stems. Each hairy leaf is divided into toothy leaflets. Its small flowers have tubular throats that range in color from purplish to yellowish, and a centimeter-wide corolla made up of light pink lobes. The fruit is a capsule a few millimeters long that holds several seeds.
