About Gibbovalva quadrifasciata (Stainton, 1862)
Gibbovalva quadrifasciata (Stainton, 1862) is a moth species belonging to the family Gracillariidae. This species has been recorded from multiple regions across Asia and Australia: in Australia, it is found in New South Wales and Queensland; in China, it occurs in Yunnan, Guangdong, and Hong Kong; in India, it is present in Karnataka and West Bengal. It can also be found in Java, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Japan, where it is distributed across Honshū, the Ryukyu Islands, and Shikoku. The wingspan of adult Gibbovalva quadrifasciata ranges from 7 to 8.5 millimeters. The larvae of this moth feed on a variety of host plant species, including Alseodaphne semecarpifolia, multiple Cinnamomum species (Cinnamomum camphora, Cinnamomum cassia, and Cinnamomum japonicum), multiple Litsea species (including Litsea dealbata, Litsea japonica, and Litsea monopetala), Neolitsea polyantha, Persea americana, Persea thunbergii, and Phoebe lanceolata. Larval Gibbovalva quadrifasciata create mines within the leaves of their host plants.
