About Gesonia obeditalis Walker, 1859
This species, Gesonia obeditalis, has a wingspan of approximately 22–24 mm (0.87–0.94 inches). Males have serrate and fasciculated antennae. The overall body color is fuscous or rufous brown, with the sides of the palpi being chocolate-colored. On the forewings, faint waved antemedial and postmedial lines are visible; the postmedial line curves inward below the cell. There are faint specks inside the cell and at the end of the cell. An obliquely sinuous pale postmedial line is present, with rufous coloring diffused along its outer edge, and a series of dark specks runs along the wing margin. On the hindwings, the postmedial line is only fully developed toward the inner margin. A marginal series of dark specks is also present on the hindwings, and faint medial and submarginal lines can be seen. Some specimens have an extra dark spot beyond the middle of the forewing postmedial line, and a second dark spot above the forewing inner margin. Some specimens have an ochreous ground color on the forewings extending as far as the submarginal line, while others have fuscous black coloration on the forewings between the antemedial and postmedial lines. The larvae of this species feed on grass species in the family Gramineae, as well as species of the genus Stylosanthes. The caterpillars lack two pairs of prolegs, and move by looping.
