About Gerygone olivacea (Gould, 1838)

Gerygone olivacea, first described by Gould in 1838, is a bird species commonly known as the white-throated gerygone. It belongs to the family Acanthizidae. Its other common names are white-throated warbler, white-throated flyeater, bush canary, and native canary. This species is found in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The overall distribution of Gerygone olivacea covers south-eastern New Guinea, and northern and eastern Australia. Three subspecies have distinct ranges: G. olivacea ssp. cinerascens occurs in south-eastern New Guinea and Australia's Cape York Peninsula; G. olivacea ssp. rogersi occurs in north-western Australia; G. olivacea ssp. olivacea occurs primarily in New South Wales.
