About Geranium wallichianum D.Don ex Sweet
Geranium wallichianum D.Don ex Sweet is a hardy flowering herbaceous perennial plant species belonging to the genus Geranium and the family Geraniaceae. This species is native to the Himalayas. It reaches 60 cm (24 in) in both height and width, producing hairy toothed leaves and abundant bright blue flowers during summer. It can be successfully cultivated in temperate climates, and is recommended for placement at the front of garden borders. The specific epithet wallichianum was chosen to honour Danish plant hunter Dr Nathaniel Wallich, who lived from 1786 to 1854. Multiple cultivars of this species have been selected for cultivation. One of these cultivars is Rozanne, also known by the cultivar name 'Gerwat', which has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. This cultivar grows larger and produces more flowers than the wild species.
