About Geranium retrorsum L'Hér. ex DC.

Geranium retrorsum is a species of geranium that is called New Zealand geranium in the United States and common cranesbill in Australia. It is native to Australia and New Zealand, and has been introduced to other continents, where it is often classified as a noxious weed. This species is a perennial herb that usually grows upright, reaching a maximum height of nearly half a meter. Its stems range from green to reddish in color and are covered in stiff hairs. Its leaves are a few centimeters wide, divided into several segments that are further split into small lobes. The small flowers of this plant are colored fuchsia to purple. Its fruit bears a straight style that is around one centimeter long. In New Zealand, the Department of Conservation has classified this species as Threatened - Nationally Vulnerable.
