Geophila repens and the earlier Rondeletia repens share original elements, leading some to treat P. repens as a new combination, but discrepancies suggest they be treated as independent names.
Note: This species and the slightly earlier Rondeletia repens L. (1759) have some original elements in common. This has led some authors, such as Steyermark in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 23: 395. 1972, to treat P. repens as a new combination. However, there are discrepancies between the two, and it seems best to treat them as independent names.
