About Genista stenopetala Webb & Berthel.

Genista stenopetala Webb & Berthel. is an evergreen shrub that reaches 3 metres (9.8 ft) in height. It produces trifoliate leaves, with leaflets that measure 1–3 centimetres (0.39–1.18 in) long. Leaflets are narrow elliptic in shape, and covered in fine silky, silvery hairs. Its strongly scented yellow flowers are 1–2 centimetres (0.39–0.79 in) long, borne in racemes 5–11 centimetres (2.0–4.3 in) long. Flowers bloom in late winter or early spring. The fruit of this plant is a 2–3 centimetres (0.79–1.18 in) long pod. Under the synonym Genista × spachiana, this species has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. This is not a hardy plant: it cannot tolerate temperatures below 5 °C (41 °F), so it is typically grown under glass in temperate climates. It may be moved outside to a sheltered, sunny location during the summer months.
