About Geastrum rufescens Pers.

Geastrum rufescens, commonly called the rosy earthstar, is a fungus species belonging to the family Geastraceae. Christian Hendrik Persoon first provided a formal scientific description of this species in 1801. Its exoperidium and rays display a color range from pale pinkish-buff to pink. This earthstar has been recorded in Europe, North America including Mexico, and Japan. In these regions, it most often grows at the base of old oak stumps.
