About Garrya ovata Benth.

Garrya ovata Benth. is a shrub that reaches 6–8 feet (1.8–2.4 m) in both height and width. Its leaves are thick, leathery, and ovate, growing up to 10 cm (4 inches) long. When young, the leaves have dense woolly hairs on both sides; when mature, the upper surface is smooth and hairless while the lower surface still retains its dense woolly covering. Its green flowers grow in hanging pendulous racemes, and it blooms from March through May. The fruits are spherical, dark blue, and grow up to 8 mm (0.31 inches) in diameter.
