About Garrulax vassali (Ogilvie-Grant, 1906)
The white-cheeked laughingthrush is a species of bird classified in the family Leiothrichidae, currently recognized under the scientific name Pterorhinus vassali, which was previously published as Garrulax vassali by Ogilvie-Grant in 1906. This species is found in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The white-cheeked laughingthrush was originally placed in the genus Garrulax. After a comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study was published in 2018, it was reclassified to the resurrected genus Pterorhinus.
