About Garrulax striatus (Vigors, 1831)

The striated laughingthrush, currently classified as Grammatoptila striata, is a passerine bird that belongs to the family Leiothrichidae. It was formerly classified in the genus Garrulax, but after a comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study was published in 2018, it was moved to become the only species in the resurrected genus Grammatoptila. This bird occurs in the northern temperate areas of the Indian subcontinent, with a range that covers Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Tibet, and Nepal. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
