About Garrha rufa (Meyrick, 1883)
Garrha rufa is a species of moth belonging to the family Oecophoridae. It was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1883. This species is native to Australia, and all confirmed records of it come from New South Wales. The wingspan of adult Garrha rufa ranges from 15 to 18 millimeters. The forewings of this moth are colored deep reddish ochreous or reddish ochreous brown, with scattered lighter ochreous scales distributed across their surface. The costa is very narrowly colored carmine pink, and the tips of the forewing scales are ochreous whitish. Discal dots on the forewings are not clearly visible, but distinct dark markings are present: there is a grouping of blackish-grey scales at the base of the forewing, a small blackish-grey spot on the costa before the middle that often forms a connected streak with a smaller cloudy blackish-grey spot in the disc one-fourth of the way from the base, plus an additional smaller cloudy blackish-grey spot on the fold that sits slightly closer to the base. An elongated cloudy blackish-grey blotch runs along the inner margin of the forewing, extending from one-third to three-fourths of the wing length. A cloudy blackish-grey streak runs from four-fifths of the way along the costa to two-thirds of the way along the inner margin; this streak widens into a small spot on the costa, and from this spot a slightly curved transverse row of indistinct blackish-grey dots extends to the inner margin just before the anal angle. A row of indistinct dark grey dots runs along the hindmargin and the apical fifth of the costa. The hindwings are ochreous grey, with the costa and base of the hindwings showing a paler, more whitish ochreous coloration.
