About Galium nuttallii A.Gray

Galium nuttallii A.Gray is a climbing perennial herb that grows from a woody base. It has thin, sprawling hanging branches that range in color from green to red, reaching up to 1.5 meters in length. Along its stems, leaves grow in whorls of four at regular intervals; each leaf is tiny, sharp-pointed, and less than one centimeter long. This species is dioecious, meaning male and female individual plants produce distinct types of flowers. Both male and female flowers are reddish, and the ovary of the female flower develops into a berry after fertilization.
