About Galerida deva (Sykes, 1832)
Sykes's lark, scientifically known as Galerida deva (Sykes, 1832), is a species of lark that inhabits dry open areas in India. Most of its distribution range is limited to central India, though there are stray records of the species in other parts of the Indian subcontinent. This lark can be identified by its prominent crest and overall rufous coloration. The streaks on its breast are less prominent than the streaks on the breast of the Oriental skylark. Sykes's lark is capable of imitating the calls of 34 other bird species that live in its habitat.
