About Furina ornata (Gray, 1842)

The orange-naped snake, scientifically named Furina ornata (Gray, 1842), is also commonly called the moon snake. It is a small venomous reptile that is native to northern and northwestern Australia. This species can be found across most of Western Australia north of Perth, and also occurs in parts of the Northern Territory and Queensland. It is the only member of the Furina genus that can be found in Western Australia.
