About Furcula cinerea Walker, 1865
Furcula cinerea, commonly known as the gray furcula moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Notodontidae. It was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1865. This moth can be found in the United States, southern Canada, and the Northwest Territories. The wingspan of adult gray furcula moths ranges from 33 to 45 mm. Adults are active in flight from April to September in the southern parts of its range, and from May to August in the northern parts. Southern populations produce two generations each year, while northern populations only have one generation per year. The larvae of this species feed on the leaves of trees and shrubs from the Betula, Populus, and Salix genera. Larvae can be found from spring through fall in southern areas, and from July to August in northern areas. Furcula cinerea overwinters in its pupal stage.
