About Fundulus xenicus Jordan & Gilbert, 1882
The diamond killifish (Fundulus xenicus) is a species of North American killifish. It occurs along the Gulf Coast of the United States, where it inhabits salt marshes, hypersaline flats, and mangroves. This species reaches a maximum total length of 6 cm, which is equivalent to 2.4 inches. It is available in the aquarium trade. This species was previously classified as Adinia xenica, and was the only recognized member of the monotypic genus Adinia. Nucleotide analyses re-evaluated the phylogeny of the Funduliidae family, and reclassified the diamond killifish into the genus Fundulus.
