About Funambulus tristriatus (Waterhouse, 1837)
Funambulus tristriatus (Waterhouse, 1837), commonly called the jungle palm squirrel, jungle striped squirrel, or Western Ghats squirrel, is a rodent species in the family Sciuridae that is endemic to India. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests. It tolerates habitat changes and is also commonly found in tea plantations in the Western Ghats. This species is restricted to forests with tall trees along the west coast of the Indian Peninsula. This restricted range has led it to be considered a pest of cacao, mangos, grapes, and sapota, plants that commonly grow in this type of forest.
